Football in Karachi

Karachi has always been the heartland of Pakistan football. Lyari, the dense, historically significant neighbourhood in the city's south, has produced more professional footballers per square kilometre than anywhere else in the country. The culture runs deep: football is not just a game in Lyari, it is identity.

Beyond Lyari, football has spread across the city's vast geography, from Orangi Town in the north-west to Clifton and Defence in the south. Each district has its own tournament culture, its own rivalries, its own established clubs.
