Football in Lahore

Lahore is associated with cricket (Gaddafi Stadium, the PSL final, the colonial sporting infrastructure left by the British). But behind that, on the grounds of the walled city, in the vast residential colonies stretching toward Raiwind, football has been played continuously for over a century.

The inner city's street-football culture and the model-colony tournament culture are distinct but connected. DHA and Bahria communities have added a newer layer: well-lit facilities, formal team structures, leagues that actually track results. Lahore's football scene is stratified but large, and growing faster than its formal record suggests.
